Bangladesh Eyes Pakistani Coal, Limestone Imports to Fuel Industrial Growth

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan held a productive meeting with Bangladesh High Commissioner Iqbal Hussain Khan to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, logistics, and industrial development.

The high commissioner shared positive feedback from his recent visits to Pakistan’s industrial hubs, where he received strong interest from local business communities. Discussions centered on Bangladesh’s growing demand for Pakistani coal and limestone, essential for power generation and soda ash production.

Both sides also explored expanding agricultural trade. Bangladesh expressed interest in exporting pineapples to Pakistan, while Pakistan is considering mango exports, subject to final technical approvals. The meeting reflects a mutual commitment to unlocking new opportunities in regional commerce and energy collaboration.
